Pasteurized Donor Milk

The World Health Organization lists pasteurized human donor milk (PDHM) as the best option when a mother’s own milk is unavailable. For premature infants this is a life-saving medicine. We are lucky enough to have a nonprofit donor milk bank right here in Westchester County.  Additionally, several hospitals in our region are offering donor milk as an option for their NICU patients and many more are considering using PDHM as standard of care for their smallest preemies.

For more information about donating your extra breastmilk or acquiring human donor milk, contact the The New York Milk Bank. For information about monitoring and ensuring the safety of human donor milk, check out the Human Milk Banking Association of North America.
